UPDATE: PARIS Jackson is "physically fine" following her alleged suicide attempt.

The 15-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson was rushed to hospital after she reportedly cut her wrists at her Calabasas, California home yesterday but her grandmother Katherine Jackson says Paris is doing well.

She said in a statement: "Paris is physically fine and getting appropriate medical attention.

"Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you.

"Please respect her privacy and the family's privacy."

Paris posted a series of troubling messages on her Twitter account on the day before, including: "I wonder why tears are salty?"

She later added: "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay. (sic)"

The teenager has recently begun developing a relationship with her birth mother Debbie Rowe, Michael's ex-wife, who relinquished her custody rights to Paris and Prince following her divorce from the 'Bad' singer in 1999.

The Jackson family are currently embroiled in a high-profile court case after filing a wrongful death lawsuit against concert promoters AEG Live.

Michael's mother Katherine Jackson claims the promoters, who were behind the 50-date London residency he was preparing for at the time of his death in June 2009, were negligent in hiring disgraced physician Conrad Murray to supervise the 'Thriller' singer's medical care.

Murray was convicted of manslaughter after delivering a lethal dose of Propofol which killed the superstar.

Paris Jackson in hospital after apparent suicide attempt

MICHAEL Jackson's 15-year-old daughter, Paris, has been hospitalised in Los Angeles after an apparent suicide attempt.

The late King of Pop's middle child reportedly left her home in Calabasas, California, in an ambulance in the early hours of Wednesday morning, local time.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed that paramedics had responded to a 911 call "regarding a possible overdose" at 1.27am.

Jackson is expected to make a full recovery.

Several hours previously, the teen had posted a pair of cryptic tweets: "I wonder why tears are salty?" and a mournful lyric from the Beatles song, "Yesterday": "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away… now it looks as though they're here to stay."

This month marks the fourth anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, and the family is currently engaged in a messy court battle for compensation with AEG Live, the concert promoters who were working with the star at the time of his death.

However, Entertainment Tonight quoted a source close to the family, who said the reason for Paris's attempted suicide was that she had been forbidden to attend a Marilyn Manson concert taking place in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.

Her mother, Debbie Rowe, told Entertainment Tonight that Jackson had "a lot going on."

Rowe and her daughter are said to have rekindled their relationship recently after years of estrangement following Rowe's divorce from Michael Jackson in 1999.

They celebrated the teenager's 15th birthday together last month.

Rowe's laywer Eric George said, "We appreciate everyone's thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family's privacy."
